Our relationship is extremely cold - Dennis

Ron Dennis, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team Principal, described his relationship with double World Champion Fernando Alonso as 'extremely cold' and added tat even that was 'an understatement'. Dennis declared this during last weeks WMSC hearing in Paris.

The final contact between Alonso and Dennis dates from the morning of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Dennis said: “First, the relationship between Fernando and myself is extremely cold — that is an understatement. In Fernando’s mind, there is the firm belief that our policy, whereby each driver receives equal treatment, does not properly reflect his status as world champion.

“He bases this assertion on the fact that his experience and knowledge and what came to him from his former team, is such that he should receive an advantage. In that discusssion he was extremely upset with what had taken place the previous day (during the Hungarian qualifying session), but nowhere nearly as upset as I was.”

Dennis described Alonso as: “He does not speak to anyone much. He is a remarkable recluse for a racing driver."

After the expressions of Ron Dennis have been made public, the rumours about Fernando Alonso leaving the team are spread once more.
