We proved to be the third power - Theissen

With three rounds of the 2007 season remaining, the BMW Sauber F1 Team has already succeeded in establishing itself as third power on the Formula One grid. BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen regards this as stimulation for the coming season.

In the 14 races contested so far, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers have secured 22 point-finishes to score a total of 90 points: 54 points more than in the whole of the 2006 season.

"We set ourselves the goal to secure third position this year, but we were surprised that it was so easy to realise this goal right from the start of the season," admits Theissen.

"We proved to be the third power in virtually every race," the BMW Motorsport Director adds. He is proud of the consistency the team has demonstrated throughout the 2007 season, but adds: "At the same time, this means that there still are two teams being better than us. And this represents a major stimulation for the coming season."
