FIA to go through '08 McLaren with fine-tooth comb - Mosley

In an interview with formula1.com, Max Mosley declared that the FIA will rigorously examine next season's McLaren to ensure that the Woking-based team did not use any of the information obtained from Ferrari during the espionage case.

McLaren was stripped of their 2007 Constructors' points and received a fine of $100 million. Still the FIA wants to make sure that none of the information obtained from Ferrari will be used during the design of the 2008 challenger of McLaren.

Max Mosley said: “We want to play fair with McLaren, but want to give the other teams and the public the guarantee that the new McLaren is not built upon Ferrari information. We are now facing the situation of going through the ‘08 McLaren with a fine-tooth comb. And we are not speaking about a single component but of the incorporation of intellectual property and ideas in order to solve technical problems.”

So even after the penalty McLaren received, the espionage case is still an ongoing matter as there will be a World Motor Sport Council on 7 December to discuss if the Woking-based team used any of the Ferrari information on the new car or not.
