Some five weeks prior to the start of the 2008 Formula One World Championship season, the BMW Sauber F1 Team works on further improvements for the F1.08. During the tests held this weekend at Barcelona, the Munich and Hinwil based squad again tested new modifications for the car.

"It's easy to recognise that every square centimetre of the car has been revised - resulting in brand-new solutions that haven't been seen anywhere else, to date," said BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen regarding the innovative aerodynamic and mechanic components of the F1.08. "Throughout the year, we care about making our car faster."

A successful effort: At the "Circuit de Catalunya", Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld delivered in convincing style by setting the fourth and sixth fastest lap time respectively, this Sunday. Further progress is supposed to be made during the next tests, held from 12th to 14th February at Jerez, Southern Spain.

"In 2007, the car surprised us with its pace right from the first day of testing - but we had reliability problems," Theissen told the German media. "This year, the car has proven to be very reliable from day one but now we will focus on its performance. We have to find half a second more than the most competitive teams. That's a major challenge. But we are - above all - ambitious."
