Heidfeld focussing on aero and mechanical setup of the F1.08

Today Nick Heidfeld worked on the aerodynamical and mechanical setup of the BMW Sauber F1.08. With sunny weather all day long the team also tried different engine mappings in preparation for the oncoming Spanish Grand Prix.

Strong winds in the afternoon and some rain drops just before the end of the session had little affect on the test work. Heidfeld once did a precautionary stop because an alarm light came on. Nevertheless the team could follow its test program as scheduled and achieved progress in various areas.

While some teams today already tested parts according to regulations for the 2009 season – leading to significantly better lap times – BMW Sauber F1 is planning to do so later during the Barcelona test.

What comes next:
Testing continues for three more days in Barcelona. Tomorrow Nick Heidfeld will be on duty again, concentrating on setup work and tyre testing in preparation for next week’s Spanish GP. From Wednesday on Robert Kubica will take over.
