The Honda Racing F1 Team returned to the test track this week following the first three races of the 2008 Formula One season. With nine of the eleven teams in action at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, this week’s planned four-day test will allow the Honda team to prepare for the next race, the Spanish Grand Prix, which takes place in just under two weeks time.

Test and Reserve Driver Alex Wurz began the programme today, with Rubens Barrichello due to drive on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Jenson Button concluding the running on Thursday.

Alex’s focus for the day was an evaluation of the slick tyre specifications provided by Bridgestone for this test as development work continues to prepare for the return of slicks in 2009.

Alex completed 75 laps and set the second fastest time of the day – a 01:21.059.

Weather conditions in Barcelona were sunny but windy with a short rain shower late in the afternoon.

Rubens will continue the team’s programme tomorrow as he takes over the RA108 from Alex.
