Clubs breaking away from FIA still not off the table

A possible split between the automobile clubs and the governing body, the FIA, is still not off the table. American Club President Robert Darbelnet declared to press agency 'Associated Press' that there are talks with six of the world's leading car clubs about instituting an alternate governing body.

Darbelnet declared to the agency: "From those discussions, we could come up with an alternate form or structure, which is what it would take. We need to define the best type of structure. I don't see people getting off the boat and on another one without some kind of assurances."
