Hopefully a clean race tomorrow. Then tyre test with new engine. Gives them the perfect chance to test setups and ers etc
No new engine in tyre tests... you can only use previously used components in tyre tests, no new parts allowed to test.
They are doing a "filming day" after the tire tests with the new engine, reportedly:

Honda will debut its upgraded engine in a Hungaroring filming day next week, PlanetF1.com understands.

AMR will benefit tremendously post Hungary GP. They will be testing for Pirelli. This will further help them gather vital data on the new package. I hope Alonso is also going to take part in the tasting.

Or the new rear suspension doesn't work? New one caused Lance's to break. Both cars had the oscillations. If they reverted back to the old suspension and the vibrations are gone in FP2, one could surmise that there is some relationship.

For some reason Newey's response doesn't seem genuine. I think he's feeling the pressure of Stroll Sr. as his son's car almost pitched him into the wall. Stroll had a masterful save - possibly Newey's job.
neweys answers "dont seem genuine" because you are incapable of offering any view that doesnt leave AMR as some villain thats in some weird war against hondas integrity. any quote from newey or any other team member that doesnt offer complete immunity to honda from doing anything wrong is obviously a conspiracy to denigrate the whole company, and all japanese people to boot. (this is weird af)

if you think newey is feeling some kind of pressure for his job you are delusional. he feels pressure because he want to win. any pressure newey has is put on him by himself at this point in his career.
Perhaps I'm more keen on his diction. He didn't come out and say it as if he knew what was the issue. The journalist kind of baited him with that question, in effect, leading the witness. Besides, they dialed out the oscillations and vibrations, did they not? And who would you credit that to? It's called team effort. No need for Newey to immediately call out Honda.
he didnt call out honda (if thats what youre saying). he made a simple statement, that honda would be the ones to answer that question. some people find that horrible because it goes against their narrative that honda have nothing to do with the vibration problem.. SORRY.. no need for everybody to be hyper sensitive and pick everything out as some insult to their preferred company. especially when you then make some even farther out statement like neweys job may be at risk for putting the owners son in danger.

this site reminds me a lot of the camera forums now. when sony started getting serious about building professional digital cameras, they decided to take something they learned from promoting their sony playstation against the xbox. they flooded sites with nonsense, pro sony, anti every other brand. attacking anything that could be considered threatening to their brand. its the exact same process here. to a few in here, this is a honda site. aston martin is the enemy. newey, the enemy. alonso, 10 years ago he said something bad. he is the enemy. god help anyone else that mentions honda in anything besides perfection, they will be the enemy forever. this is a team sport, just like you said, but to some its honda vs the world. the rest of us hope that the whole team do good.

Ignore the rage baiting, he got me too previously. For some people apparently its Japan vs UK or the west or something. Lets discuss what Aston and Honda can do to improve the situation without fighting each other. This new chassis and aero package which basically has the same philosophy as the first iteration, but refined, proves to me at least that Newey is on the ball. And most importantly the correlation tools work finally. The PU needs a massive upgrade, and hopefully the first step comes at Zandvoort. The second sector today (not so PU dependent) was ahead of both Alpines, who have the best PU. So the aero is to me undoubtedly solid.

yeah my main worry was whether the correlation was ok now. definitely hasnt been up until now. next step is zandvoort :D
i wish they were more loose with the projected HP gains they may bring. i have the feeling it may be 27 before they get a big bump. but more patience is needed to find out i guess

A Honda spokesman said fans would be disappointed if they expect a 50 bhp gain from the engine upgrade. If older rumours are true that the Honda upgrade would bring 0.5 of a second, then that is around 30 bhp?

Does anyone know if they will use the new Honda engine for the pirelli post-hungary tyre test?

I’m genuinely worried about Honda; the ghosts of the past keep feeding my fears. It won’t matter at all if Honda keeps failing or only improving by hundredths of a second every two years.

This was a positive first step on the road to recovery, and Alonso getting the car into Q2 was all I could have expected without more horsepower this weekend. A few comments Juan Pablo Montoya said how good the Aston looked trackside going through the corner he was at, were encouraging. The biggest take away was the correlation at base to the track for the car matching now. Zandvort will be like Barcelona for this team, and from there it sounds like Newey has multiple upgrade packages planned for future races. That is encouraging as hopefully it means they will find a good path development wise to go down for 2027.

The big unknown now is Honda and what this one token upgrade is bringing. If Honda can find 560hp out of the motor, recharge the batteries at the full rate, get the deployment working well, then Aston might have a shot at Alpine levels by the end of the season. 2027 Honda needs a huge step with the motor, and I hope the fact they are only using one token this year is because they are throwing the kitchen sink at the 27 engine.

It would be nice to see Alonso in Q3 on merit by the end of the year. 🙏

Posts like the one a couple of posts above are why Honda fans who've come to Aston Martin Honda, are touchy about things that Aston Martin fans who've come to Aston Martin Honda (yes, this is a new partnership), say. There's quite an undercurrent of when the car goes well, it's because of the great chassis in spite of terrible Honda, and when it goes badly, it's because terrible Honda are so bad all is lost. It's even been said no chassis development could realistically be done whilst the engine was so bad (so how about all the current updates?). Of course the engine is very poor, and yes it is a concern because engine development and lead-times are long (and updates can only be made when permission is granted). But, the chassis was very poor too, the drivers have been complaining, and the team even said approximately half the deficit comes from the chassis, but these facts are glossed over or often not even mentioned at all. The team has a works engine deal, with the company that powered four drivers championships, which were the only ones the Mercedes didn't win in the turbo hybrid engine era. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but don't underestimate Honda. How about wishing them well, and seeing how it goes?

Nope... The rumors go from no power increase to 50hp+. Although the one thing they did say is that there will be no more vibration.
Big thanks, I don´t follow F1 news anymore for a long time. I guess it will only improve drivabily and reliability then. I´m not expecting a huge leap in performance.

Yeah, but almost any car is a spaceship compared to Williams :)
They don't need ADUO to improve drivability or reliability. They can improve drivability every day of the week except Saturday to Sunday of race weekends. One only uses ADUO to make performance changes to the ICE. Stop listening to your rumours.
