Honestly, Racing Bulls has looked like the better overall car for quite a while now. Maybe they need to Lawson-swap the technical teams.

apparently Bayer talked about problems with a turbo lag on German Sky, but it was just a topic the commentators picked up on, I didn't see the interview. So no idea if it only affects the Red Bull Powertrain cars, but it seems to be something they are struggling with in Hungary.

If it were upto me, I will pull the car out of parc ferme, put the old DRS wing back on (fly the thing in from Milton Keynes) and start from pitlane. Finishing P7 should be the objective of the race. Better to do it that way, rather than starting P4 with an off balance, undrivable, can-crash-in-corners-under-braking and finishing with DNF or P9-P10 anyway.

Peter Windsor (newest video on his YT channel) were talking that all other teams were just running full deployment 320-330 km/h to T1 but both RB PU teams were harvesting from 320>300. He were speculating that maybe ICE is good but Electric side is really bad.

In overall this would make sense. Hopefully it software limited so team can recover.

Which is absolutely correct looking at the data. RB had more deployment to turn 2 in return, which gave them a nett gain over those 2 straights.

They lost a couple of tenths in turn 1, but that is unrelated to deployment.

Why are so many people, every GP weekend, rooting for a PL start? Is doesn't make any sense and doesn't give any gain.

A pit lane start means you are a full pit window behind after 2 laps due to field spread. And on a hard-to-overtake track like the Hongaroring after 10 laps you're so far behind that even a good timed safety car won't help anymore.

Even with a bad setup car, or some sort of problem that costs some tenths a lap, starting at P4 will always be quicker over a total GP distance.

You don't give up 40 seconds, to gain 2 or 3 tenth a lap on a 77 lap race (without calculating being stuck).

Thanks for clarifying!

No he wasn’t. Newey wasn’t fully operational since he decided to spent time at designing his sailing boat. Newey was way less involved as people believed. See what he is doing now at AMR
This is just not true. He was very much leading all of it. Ha made all the decisions, set the concept of the car, and overlooked all departments of car design with a holistic view. He also still designed parts.

It's Horner who convinced Newey to join and was able to keep him from 2006 to 2024.
And Marko and Mateschitz. Even if he was the sole person behind signing him, it wouldn't give him credit for the car designs and the technical department Newey built up.
The free reign given to him by Marko is what appealed to him, after being over-ruled at McLaren. So he could build up the technical side to his liking.

Max telling Dutch reporters that he is way beyond “desperate” for a long time now 😂😂.
Thanks to his father he got a little bit what he deserved. Horner was holding everything together, at least he was trying to. All key figures are gone so I don’t see any reason expect fighting for wins let alone fighting for the wdc. It’s just an “elite” racingbulls midfield team.
The key figures started escape when Horner started his failed political takeover. He blew apart the team he helped build.
The Verstappens pretty much highlighted this.

Theoretically, you are right. But there are two factors that you are not accounting for, in this 'wonderful formula' 2026 :
- tyre wear with an unbalanced car, risk of DNF
- the performance gap between the 'big 4' and the rest of the field is huge, plus yo-yo racing ensures that unless there is a physical limitation like width of the road (monaco), there is no track where overtaking isn't possible.

The car is a shitbox, unreliable, but I still see Max winning 1 race this season. We had some podiums already, this year was always going to be transitional one. All eyes on 2027. We had our run from 2021-2024, dont worry guys. Some teams like Ferrari are waiting 20 years for that title.
