Q3 Nico Rosberg - 1:22.599 (He did best in the Q2(1:22.569))

Q2 Michael Schumacher - 1:22.671

On last years winter testing in Barcelona, Michael did a 1:21.268 (overall best time of the winter tests) In Qualifying of Barcelona they were suddenly so far away from that. I still can't see why... :/

Because when there are testing they are using a different track lay-out.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

He was doing 1:30s before the red flag, I think it's fair to assume that was on full tanks.

:?

Thats why we can't "trust" in this lap times during the tests

Probably he did that time in special conditions, one and a half seconds is too mutch..
Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, competing to win...

Because they were using a different exhaust :D They heated their tyres, later on they head tyre temperature issues.

Parc fermé rule can explain that. In testing you could setup your car for a single flying lap while in race weekend your qualifiying setup is your race setup too.

Plus Barcelona tyre specs was I think hard & soft while they could run supersoft during winter tests.

Although one must remember that the engine-mapping parc ferme rules only came into place at Valencia 2011. Teams were purported to be gaining many tenths of a second through ultra-aggressive engine maps intended only for qualifying. That would have included the Spanish GP.

So? Except the engine mapping, the car was setup to run 305km, not only 5.
It has to be soft on its tyres, manage empty & full fuel tank, 2 tyre specs, etc.
Lot of things which alter the single lap performance.
