Red Bull RB8 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Not sure what you're referring to Raymond? Can you describe the location a little better maybe?

Edit: Ray it happens to the best of us. We're all trying to find the newest bit. That's the fun of it. :)))

What's there before the centela slot in the beam wing? Pipe, wiring, reflections?

Is that wood grain I see on the pullrod cover? Old-school rapid prototyping?

Indeed it is Newby, good spot. Jives with them still looking to make a step forward as Seb suggested. Interesting they were using flo-vis on the FW yesterday too.

Most of the car is actually whittled by hand. Newey is old school.

Sure looks like they are trying make that step forward you mentioned. Or still trying to catch up on their aero testing after Seb's off in Barcelona, maybe.

I'll bet they hated to see the rain more than all the other major teams (except maybe Ferrari).

McLaren said their package at Barcelona is pretty much what you see in Oz.

Yeah, and what was interesting was they did one side of the car at a time. Flo-vis on left, run come in. Go back out with flo-vis on the right. People are talking about the MP4-27, and yes it looks good, but so does the RB8.

Interesting tweaks as well to the exhaust. They have a massively awesome CFD department. It just shows what happens when you embrace new technology before others.
