What image is the camera capturing? For the team's use only?

According to Sky sports it is taking a temperature profile of the tyres (on vettel's car) on the left hand side (looking at the car from the front)

Ted has explained that Rb and macca are using those cameras to gather some data from the rear tyres.

Wow, that's clever. The cameras are on the nose!

I was talking about the camera on the engine cover analyzing the tyre temps, the one on the nose well,,, no idea

Red Bull has been forced by the FIA to rebuild it's brakes/brake ducts as they've been using them for aerodynamic benefit and the rules say only to cool brake calipers, etc.

I think there is nothing stated about this under the brake rules. This would also seem to contradict what is going on in the rear with the use of brake duct wing-lets. So what details are we missing?

When I see an English report on the subject i'll pay it more attention.

However if I was Red Bull I would be cautious about using flow vis on the rear brake duct fins, as that would tend to infer that they are being used for an aero benefit, though I doubt any team would protest such a situation as they all seem to be running a number of fins off their own ducts.

Of course they are being used for aero benefit! All teams are using winglets on the ducts for aero. This has been done since early last year. Why else do you think that the fins are there, for?

Still nobody has explained how it is useful to modify flows with your measuring device...to me the whole idea is rather counter intuitive ...
I cannot put precise device into the equation and doing so modifying the experiment in a magnitude rendering the whole experiment useless...

It´s like putting a 5gramme accelerometer on a 10g part and try to figure out the vibration levels and effects.. it does not work like this and you will have to find other means of measuring .

why not use High speed cameras and emitting particles and observe speed and path around the car? as it is done in wind tunnel work?
