Re: Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

Post

Can someone explain to me why a modified 2015 car, running 2017 tyres and 2017 level downforce, is being discussed in a 2016 car topic??

-The correct thread to discuss the modified cars is in this topic:
http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =1&t=24264

-The correct thread tp discuss the 2017 tyres is in this topic:
http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =6&t=24166

I will move the none-conforming topics here on this one occasion to the appropiate topic. Posts which do not conform with the 2016 car after this message will be deleted.

Are there any (big) updates on the Ferrari?

Can't be sure but there seems to be a small change to the diffuser. The trailing edge of the diffuser itself (not the flaps attached to the trailing edge) now has a slight downward curve in the very center section, where the 'boat tail' ends. I don't recall seeing this before:

Edit: It clearly is different from the below pic from Monaco, which is the last good diffuser pic I could find. So the question is when did it change, is it new for Spa?

Is that maybe a low drag spec for the long straights in Spa and Monza?
Does that exhaust have different colours than before or is that just what a brand new exhaust looks like? This one is blueish and there are stripes on it, while I remembered the exhaust to be brown
No, Kimi, no. You will not have the drink.

Better image of new diffuser. AMUS stated one of the problems with the aero on the SF16-H is that the downforce was not consistent during long corners, making the car unstable. This diffuser change may be intended to lessen the chance of stall and give more consistent downforce.

Ferrari definitely shifted full focus to 2017 long ago. almost no major developments on the car at all.

Closed blown axle? To reduce drag most likely.

I certainly hope so. Or their R&D isn't translating to benefits in the real world on track.
