Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Not the new front wing though. It's the older spec, but maybe we see it tomorrow

Quite possibly. Alternatively, with this being a maximum downforce track, they may have wanted the additional surface area on the topmost flaps.

I seem to remember a couple of people on here saying, at the start of the season, that the inlets were too big and must be made smaller as the season wore on...
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I wish they'd use the livery from the German gp more often. Looked so nice in that porcelain white. Not all the time but every now and then.

Shot of the new front brake duct introduced in Germany. Note the extension to the inlet on the leading edge of the brake fence. This allows airflow to pass through a channel between the drum and rim. (via SomersF1 & Giorgio Piola)

Despite the much milder temperatures, Merc has gone with maximum cooling (for free practice, at least). (via SomersF1 & Giorgio Piola)

I couldn't make sense of those claims. Especially when that overhead shot from the second week of testing came out; it really demonstrated how insanely narrow the side pods are. I guess the more traditional shape threw some folks off.

They're all working away like mad outwashing through the front wheels, and with the new front wing that looks like more outwash too doesn't it, the concept is gradually drifting back to what they had last year, or in that direction. It should be less draggy I think, around the front wheels, but presumably still giving that better-than-yours load on the front tyres.

Your right zibby it was the traditional shape that threw my eyes. I admit I was wrong.

You'll no doubt have a chance to do the same in return at some point. :D =D>

The ones we should really call GOATs are the design guys instead of the pilots :o . Whoever made the thing that suddenly gives them such impressive low speed speed since the end of 2018, while still having the longest wheelbase, should get a raise. Is there already more info on what exactly they are doing that gives them such an advantage starting this year? Last I heard it could be front suspension related, but havent been up to date to the latest theories and publications, so if someone has an update please be welcome.
True GOATs don’t need the help of superior material to win.

Tom Brady, Usain Bolt are true GOATs.

Seems like they haven't brought much performance gains
