yeah, to me thats about 1.9m. what the hell are you looking at 🙄???
Maybe you could annotate on the image where the 1.9m is, because I'm not seeing it
The rules state you must leave a cars width if a car is alongside. So Perez had to leave a cars width for Gasly. Perez left almost a cars width, as it looked like he and gasly almost touched wheels, and gasly had to go on to the white line. Maybe Perez even left a perfect 200cm, but we can't really tell. Sergio left 1.9m at least.

The rules don't care about the wall. If memory serves, the rules basically stipulate, inside of, or on the line are considered legal. pushing a driver to the point that they have their outer wheels completely over the line is not.

Yeah, so if that is the case, Sergio actually didnt do anything wrong as Gasly didnt go over the white line.

Then when we look at the Schumacher incident, he pushed Rubens all the way over the white line, yet a couple of users here cant see any difference.

what paragraph?
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

So if that's the case then all Schumacher did was break the rules, that doesn't mean it was more dangerous though does it?

https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files ... n_2020.pdf
CHAPTER IV - CODE OF DRIVING CONDUCT ON CIRCUITS
b) Overtaking, according to the
circumstances, may be carried out on either
the right or the left.
A driver may not deliberately leave the track
without justifiable reason.
More than one change of direction to defend
a position is not permitted.
Any driver moving back towards the racing
line, having earlier defended his position offline, should leave at least one car width
between his own car and the edge of the
track on the approach to the corner.
However, manoeuvres liable to hinder other
drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car
beyond the edge of the track or any other
abnormal change of direction, are strictly
prohibited.
Any driver who appears guilty of
any of the above offences will be reported to
the Stewards.

c) Drivers must use the track at all times. For
the avoidance of doubt, the white lines
defining the track edges are considered to
be part of the track but the kerbs are not.

One thing that is maybe overlooked is, if a car was coming out of the pits, right at that moment in Hungary, someone could easily have been killed. Rubens was pushed in to the pit lane, right where a car could have been doing 60mph vs Rubens doing 180+. I guess that could make it more dangerous.

Yes that part is the danger bit but the cars would have accelerated well past 60mph by then.

The act of nearly punting RB in to the wall though was no more dangerous that was SP did.

How much re-engineering would be required to get it to rev reliably to 15k, or even just to rev to 15k at all without turning in to a lump of scrap?
Lighter components and a fluidampr get these over 10K in home garages. I guess I was thinking that it would need some re-engineering for a full race build. Just like every single other OEM engine that is built to race.
It was an honest question. Getting to 15k rpm in any car engine is never going to be a straight forward exercise. I'm sure given the money, it can be done.
I'm happy with 500hp@7000 for my application (turbo).

Ihave a beautiful RX8 with the obligatory blown apex seals. I think I found my swap.
That giant truck engine wont fit into your RX-8 without serious mods and spoiled handling.
It humoungous even alongside a 2JZ which is already huge.
My tape measure says differently.

Are you speculating, or have you measured it differently than me? :?:
That was quick! You only just found your swap. :-k

What have you decided to go with, the five or the six?

The height and oil pan will be your challenge as an SUV engine.

The "best team radio" video has an external shot down from raidillion where it's evident that Gasly still had some room on the right (almost a tyre's width), the onboard just makes it look a lot tighter than it actually was.

The 5. Not quick, I've had the RX for a long time. And the 3700 engines are easy to measure at a boneyard. (Where I was wandering, measuring things to fit.)

We are way OT. I'm surprised we've been allowed this much.

Ok whatever floats your boat.
No oil squirters and VVT is only on the exhaust side. But should make a very interesting swap..

What stopped Barrichello from sticking to White line and not cross it? Because as per your definition, white line was the track and there was no room for overtaking! So that makes Barrichello wrong. When he was alongside, he was already out of race track! The guy ahead is entitled for the race track position.

You may need to brush up on your rules. If you have one wheel on the track and the other 3 are over the line, you are still on the track. Barichello did not overtake outside of the track.
For Sure!!
