Ferrari 150° Italia

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The ferrari they were just showing seemed to still have the new rear wing on it – only one slot gap support in the middle, and a flap across the top.

new wing reminded me slightly of this, maybe if they had used transparent material...

"Seems like such a system must have some performance loss due to such short pipes."

What pipes are short, primary or secondary?

Awsome picture. Look at the marks where the exhaust exits... Clearly shows the flow direction.

Yeah, now the "slot" loophole that created DDDs has been closed, the number of permutations available for diffuser design has dropped massively. Besides strake placement and exhaust positioning (which can be seen from above), there is now very little room for creativity in this area of the car.

Still, it is nice for home enthusiasts to be treated with these shots every so often :)

the blueing of the metal shields is quite severe and different left to right...the metallic plate design ,doesn´t it divert the exhaust plume towards the rim? i would have thought thed shield the rim and try to keep it going towards the back more..
what is that slot in the stepped bottom -just where the marshall is grabbing with both hands-never saw that before...

i should think they'd like to see RBR diffuser, it looks very much different to everybody elses from behind, so it would be good to see what shapes newey has created on the floor.

Not much room for creativity anywhere else, either. F1 is slowly moving toward a spec formula -- see IndyCars for the future of F1.

I used to think this, but there has been more innovation in F1 lately as the regulations have clamped down more. Makes the engineers come up with more wild ideas than before.

As much as I want to like Indy car, I think the new regulations are going to drive costs up and spread the field more. The cars will look different, which I like, but Indy is going to change. The money isn't there to support it.
