Can anyone hazard a guess as to why most of the crash structure is white in this image?

The aftermath of the fire they suffered a few days ago. Cleaned but not yet repainted, you can see some brownish staining on there that is most likely the result of fire damage.

I think.. :?

EDIT:Image

You can see the flames exiting over and around the rear crash structure, i'm not convinced by "oil fire" as the reason either.

They had some temp stickers in the rain light on the back of the crash structure at some point over the test. Can anyone confirm if that was before or after the fire?

Either way, it looks like they are feeding hot exhaust gasses between the beam wing and diffusser, with the crash structure bang in the middle, it stands to reason they would want to monitor how hot it gets.

ceramic coating of the carbon structure for heat protection - IMHO

A good high-res image of Ferrari trying out the extra cooling solutions for hot races.

You mean the apertures next to the santander logos on the sidepods?

Thanks guys.

On reflection, and prompted by both of your answers, I suspect that actually we might actually be seeing a new crash structure there which has it's ceramic coating applied, but no paint yet, ir maybe the paint got burnt off as clarkies suggested?

Also, I notice that the suspension cables holding the floor up have now been wrapped in gold-leaf, presumably for heat dissipation? Does this tell us anything spicy about the design intent of the F150th? In particular, that they're routing their exhaust gases toward the centreline of the diffusor instead of outboard like the RedBull guys seem to be, at the moment at least?

it looks to me like they're running some extra wires on those cables that hold the diffuser...look how it climbs on top of the rear crash structure... so maybe the gold heat shielding is for that...

are you sure it is gold tape? it is translucent a bit and looks more like that heatresistive tape which is equally as expensive..
Kapton -polyimide tape- and it would bolster the idea they run some cabling along the ropes,as this is typical electric/electronic boffins ways of doing things quick and dirty..

Kinda like how they went all conservative to the tests with a very simple car.
No doubt in my mind they have some goodies to get on the car when the time is right.

Thumbs up for the reliability too, very impressive.

I just wish they would bring back the hole in the nosecone they used at Monaco i think? To bad it didn´t seem to add any performance though.
The truth will come out...

Now I'm sure I'm being paranoid here, but with all the heat shielding, heat-reactive stickers and the hole at the bottom of it, are ferrari passing something through the lower half of their rear crash structure? Exhaust gases would be impossible, right?
