Abu Dhabi insists works are on schedule

The organisers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix denied that the works on the brand new circuit are behind schedule. The deep global recession sparked rumours in that the £250 million project on Yas Marina Island, which will also include a hotel and leisure complex, could be hit by the problems, particularly after work on the first F1 theme park in nearby Dubai had to be halted due to the credit crunch. But the organisers of the race insist that there are "no concerns" surrounding the project.

A statement of the Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management said: “As tickets for the inaugural F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix went on sale in Abu Dhabi this morning, Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM) confirmed that progress on the construction of Yas Marina Circuit, the host venue for the final race of the 2009 F1 season finale, is on track and there are no concerns regarding delivery deadlines.”
