Following the excellent results Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve secured in Melbourne, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is extremely buoyed regarding the coming races. According to Nick, the team is on the right way.

For the first time this season, both BMW Sauber F1.06 succeeded in securing points. Nick finished fourth at the 'Albert Park Circuit', with Jacques coming home sixt. Together, the German and his Canadian team-mate scored a total of eight points for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. "It's just great to have scored points with both our cars," says Nick Heidfeld, "Particularly in consideration of the fact that Jacques started 19th on the grid. I have to admit that the team did a fantastic job during the pit stops, thus helping me to gain points."

The Australian Grand Prix turned out to be the most spectacular race of the season so far, with the Safety-Car having to come out four times to ensure the drivers' safety following a number of incidents. Even for experienced drivers such as Nick Heidfeld, the 2006 Australian GP was something special, in this respect. "It's a special situation when the Safety-Car has to go out that often," explains Nick, "But you just mustn't allow yourself to be distracted by things like that."

Both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers succeeded perfectly in doing so, avoiding every dangerous situation on the track. The well reserved reward: the best result of the season so far. But for Nick, this success is no reason to rest on his laurels. "I'm truly happy with our current performance. We want to make it to the very top, within the coming years and currently, things look rather promising. We've made the rigth steps, now we have to continue working all-out."
