Having suffered a severe crash at the beginning of the opening practice at the Canadian Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has been ruled out of any further running on Friday as his SF-25 has sustained a damage that the Scuderia was unable to repair for FP2.

Leclerc managed just four timed laps in FP1 and he ended up 10th on the timesheets, seven-tenths off Max Verstappen's leading pace in the Red Bull.

After just over ten minutes into the session, Leclerc suffered a heavy crash, but he managed to walk away from his shunt, where he locked up into Turn 3 then ran wide onto the grass, hitting both sides of his Ferrari and leaving it up against the Turn 4 barrier.

Ferrari has now confirmed that the Monegasque will be unable to compete in the second free practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix.

As per the regulations, any change of chassis on Friday rules you out of the rest of the day's action until FP3 on Saturday.

Ferrari's statement read: "Due to the damage to his car sustained in the crash in FP1, Charles Leclerc will not take part in FP2, as the survival cell on his SF-25 needs to be replaced. As per the regulations, Charles will be able to drive in FP3."
