First heat
Under a sunny sky Fernando Alonso clocked fastest time during the first heat of the qualifying session at Nürburgring for the European Grand Prix. Christian Klein, Christijan Albers, Scott Speed, Tiago Monteiro ,Takuma Sato and Franck Montagny are eliminated after the first 15-minute session.
There was a lot of uncertainty about who was eliminated after the first 15-minutes session. First Jacques Villeneuve was eliminated. But there was a problem with timing as, with 3 minutes to go, there was a red flag situation. Only a few seconds after the red flag situation was announced, the commentators heard that there wasn't a red flag afterall.
