What does Hamilton expect from his second year at Ferrari?

Ferrari’s launch of its 2026 Formula One challenger on Friday marked the beginning of a radically new era for the Scuderia — and for Lewis Hamilton, who offered a candid reflection on the scale of the task ahead.

That involvement has been a source of motivation. “As a driver, being involved from the very start in the development of such a different car has been a particularly fascinating challenge, working closely with the engineers to help define a clear direction for it,” Hamilton said.

Ferrari insiders have repeatedly highlighted how deeply he has integrated into the technical process, and his comments reflect that hands‑on approach.

Hamilton also pointed to the expanded responsibilities drivers will shoulder under the new hybrid regulations. “It will be an extremely important year from a technical perspective, with the driver playing a central role in energy management, understanding the new systems and contributing to the car’s development,” he noted.

With energy deployment becoming more complex and more decisive for lap time, driver input will be more critical than at any point in the hybrid era.
