What matters is what happens on the track - Massa

Given that in the usually hot centre of France, the weather was cool and rainy last week, it hardly comes as a surprise to find that damp chilly weather has followed the F1 circus from Magny-Cours to Silverstone. So, wearing his Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro sweater, Felipe Massa tackled his first meeting of the weekend, in the FIA Press Conference.

Although the results have not been that special, our Brazilian driver has finished every F1 race he has started here. "Last year, I finished fifth, so I hope I can do better this year," affirmed Massa. "From what I remember of last year's race, we had a competitive car but we made a small mistake when it came to tyre choice, so we were not one hundred percent competitive. This year, the tyres are the same for everyone, so we should not have that problem at least. After the test went very well here before France, I think we should have a very good car and I hope to be fighting for the win."

Asked what he thought about comments from the McLaren team-principal that his drivers had run a conservative race in France and therefore their performance flattered the two Ferraris, Felipe had a short but explicit answer: "We were not conservative and we won the race, finishing first and second. It does not matter what people say. What matters is what happens on the track."

Asked about the current "espionage" rumours surrounding the team, Massa chose not to comment. "I have nothing to say on this subject. You should ask the team. What I can tell you is that there is no change in the mood of team and I am here to drive the car as that is my job."
