Heidfeld a big fan of Barcelona

After countless test drives and many Grand Prix races, Nick Heidfeld knows the "Circuit de Catalunya" like the back of his hand. Unfortunately the BMW Sauber F1 Team has only rarely had chance to visit the impressive city.

The mild Mediterranean climate makes the "Circuit de Catalunya" the ideal location for many teams to test new components. Nick has also racked up many kilometres on the 4.655km circuit. In contrast, however, he has spent very little time on Barcelona's famous street "Las Ramblas": "I must have completed 80 test sessions there, but have only been into Barcelona itself twice", says Heidfeld.

The distance between the circuit and the city centre make spontaneous excursions a rarity. "The circuit is a good half an hour away, and we very rarely have time to visit the city on race weekends and during test sessions", says Nick. "However, I do really like what I have seen of Barcelona. For me it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited." At last weekend's 2008 Spanish Grand Prix, Nick crossed the finish line in ninth place.
