After eight highly successful years, ING Renault F1 Team is sad to announce the departure of Dino Toso. Dino was Director of Aerodynamic Technology and was instrumental in building one of the sport’s most successful aerodynamics departments, which he has led since 2003.

Under his lead, the aerodynamic department of Renault F1 managed to rise to the top of Formula One by securing a the driver's and constructor's championship title in 2005 and 2006. Furthermore, during his time at Renault, the team never finished lower than third in the world championship.

After delivering a revised aerodynamic package for Barcelona, which should help see the R28 competing with the top teams before the season’s end, Dino is now seeking new challenges in motorsport.

“I would like to thank Flavio Briatore and Bob Bell for their professional and personal support throughout my time with the Renault F1 Team, during which we have enjoyed great success together,” commented Toso. “My passion for motorsport has always centred on innovative aerodynamics, and been motivated by a thirst for competition. I’m looking forward to tackling new challenges that will allow me to fully express my technical creativity in the years ahead, and take me back to what I love most: the thrill of competition.”

Dino’s responsibilities for leading the Aerodynamics department were already taken over by Dirk de Beer in April.
