is there an overview pic of the car anywhere to see just how tight the rear end is with the new engine cover? and does anyone know if alonso's best time was with the upgrades or not?

FW there are only two plates and it looks more simplier than previous one. Exactly the same wing was tried last week at Barcelone on FP.

Not sure.. the talk was that the teams would not be running upgrades until saturday in case of any damage as the drivers got into the rhythm of the circuit.. but based on the times in p2 you would think they are using them. Either that or Ferrari have a great base for this unique circuit.

Well, they fired Costa because he wasn't imaginative enough, basically. And now, they just copy other teams' stuff instead of going their own way. I just find it a bit ironic.

I have no problem with F1 teams taking hints off each others work, none at all. But when you say "we will now be inventive and imaginative" and then just copy other people's stuff, that seems a bit hypocritical.

Eh, so if you know the stuff works but it was already use by somebody else, you should drop it altogether? Besides, the long flap rear wing was used in testing and the 2-plane front wing they had for the better part of last year.
And in F1 you can be certain that you can't "just copy". If you think that is possible you also have to say that folks in Williams, FI, STR, Sauber, Lotus, Virgin, Hispania are dumb, because for some reason they don't manage to do so.

Bot6, these are Costa upgrades. It's not like they had time to design and fab this stuff in a couple of days. Besides, none of this is copy of McLaren or Red Bull. Well, the engine cover is Red Bull but the vanes on the rear wing are Toyota (from 09) and the "open" gurney on the diffuser was first used by Toro Rosso if I recall correctly (winter testing 2011).

Is Ferrari less of a trend setter than Mercedes Redbull or Mclaren? MACS Development team has shown a lot of imaginative thinking and guts to introduce the different car .they have effectively started the view of if you cannot beat them try something new and ingenious and copy only the things you are convinced of bringing you forward...Mclaren has not followed the masses with the tub crosssection for example and now we see a strong move back to more square sections.
Contrary to this Ferrari has vowed to go extreme several times in the last years but always introduced logical developments of their last cars and no new clean sheet of paper fresh starts.

I don't think these are Costa upgrades. If they announce his departure now, that probably means he's been out of the loop for at least a month.
