Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The side pod wings are now 2-element, and have strakes pointing backwards toward the sponsor list on the side pods.

Even if you have one, you probably won't see what you want. Problem with thermal cameras are the surface of the measuered object = glosy / metalic not goog, you got fake data.

Those have had two elements since the launch. And you're seeing a confluence of light and shadows that only appear to make it extend further back.

I honestly don't see the difference, compare to Massa on the first day.

The wing has been split since launch and I can see no element pointing towards the sponsors..

It's exactly the same. Refer to the launch pictures.

I think you are seeing a wing that isn't there, it's just the tub you are seeing, confused me too at first.

Not for me. I'm crazy ? On the shot where Alonso is in pit, there one element. The new has two elements.

EDIT : It's the same, the camera angle when Alonso is on pit trick me.

I see what you're getting at. There's nothing there - it's just an optical illusion caused by the lighting in the two on-track pictures (sharply lit from the front) and the pit pictures (softly lit). What looks like an extension to the truning vane is actually just the side of the tub brightly lit behind the turning vane.

You're not crazy. You're just not seeing what's actually there.

Right-click that picture to enlarge it. The split will become obvious.
