Ferrari F138

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

From Sepang:

what it is curious from that picture is the heat mark on the exhausts metal tongue, there is a gap between the pipe and where the exhaust start to touch the surface. Just pointing out. If someone with more knowledge in aerodinamics can please enlighten me

interesting that there are two extra air inlets in the right sidepod

Image

but there doesn't seem to be any on the left one.
either they aren't visible or there aren't any all together

that's because one sidepod has the temporary insert fitted for stationary cooling

Amazing the amount of Aero work on the brake ducts...good loophole for all teams as I believe there are no rules regarding aerodynamic parts on the Brake ducts / linkages?

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Is this some lighting tricking my eyes or is there a hole?

I think it is just a rod that is needed for structural integrity that you are seeing. It fastens the floor to the gearbox, it is better visible in other images Oups.. I was fooled, it is not at all that. I now think it is just a loose part laying there, but I could be wrong, it might be a slot, but i doubt it.

Yes, it's tricky. I don't believe that it's a slot. However, RBR have some hole somewhere at this place so it cross my mind if this isn't some small update. I will wait for better shot from FP/Q/GP.

Rules in that area are more restrictive than in 2009 AFAIR. In 2009 we saw bigger vanes there.
