Following a successful opening day at the Spanish Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris stated that he has "experimented with a few things" in the second one-hour practice at Barcelona.

Having left last Sunday’s Monaco race with a double podium result, McLaren continued to dominate proceedings on the opening day of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

Lando Norris took his maiden victory in the Principality five days ago, and he displayed an impressive performance in the first practice session to go quickest.

The second practice saw his team-mate Oscar Piastri set the benchmark, with the Australian building up a relatively big margin over his rivals in FP2.

Summarizing his sentiments after the first day at Barcelona, Norris said: “A decent Friday. I felt better in FP1 than I did in FP2, but we were trying things and we’ll keep trying to improve for tomorrow.

“It’s tiny things. I think something we do always very well is just turn up with a good baseline and find it hard to improve from that point onwards, which is a good thing, not a bad thing.

"It just allows us to try different directions, different things and just try to get a bit of a feel. The car felt good in general. We experimented with a few things in FP2, which was useful, and I think we have a good direction to go in for tomorrow.”
