"I am finally feeling like I am getting there," claims Hamilton after his impressive qualifying result

After securing his best qualifying result with Ferrari, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed that he is "finally feeling like I’m getting there."
Following a strong display at last weekend’s United States Grand Prix, Ferrari seemingly managed to carry this form over to Mexico, crucially with both cars.
On the back of some strong lap times across the three practice sessions, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton both arrived in Q3 with two fresh sets of soft tires and put them to good use.
The Monegasque grabbed provisional pole on the first runs with a staggering improvement. Although he managed to find even more time on his second hot lap, he did not have an answer to the pace of Lando Norris and had to settle for second place on the grid.
Lewis Hamilton sat out the opening practice as part of the requirement that forces each driver to hand over the car to a rookie driver twice across the season.
Despite missing FP1, the Briton managed to find a good setup for the unique requirement of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to back Leclerc up with his best Grand Prix Qualifying of the year.
Asked to explain Ferrari's gains through the last race weekends, Hamilton added: "We continue to improve on our process — from the moment we arrive, to our debriefs, to the decisions we make as a team within engineering, within when we going out — all these different things."
The seven-time world champion was left to praise his team-mate Charles Leclerc for the way they can cooperate in a bid to find performance gains on Ferrari's F1 car.
"So I think we’re just continuously tightening up on some of those areas. And I think just how Charles and I have worked together to move the car and develop it forward has been really positive over the race weekends.
"Our cars are pretty much identical now, and I’m finally figuring out how to drive this car that Charles has been fortunate to drive for the past seven years, in terms of the characteristics. But I’m finally feeling like I’m getting there. So it's good."
