Ecclestone pleads for 20 races

Bernie Ecclestone wants to extend the Formula One calendar to 20 races per season. This season, there are 18 races after the Belgian Grand Prix got axed. The Formula One supremo doesn't only want more races, but he also wants to lose the back-to-back races.

More and more countries want to organise an F1 race. This would be the main reason why Ecclestone wants to expand the calendar. Some of the countries that want the F1 circus to visit them are India, Russia, Greece and Romania

Ecclestone "It would be good to have 20 races, provided we spread them out over a longer period. These back-to-back races are a killer. And provided that we put on races in places which are good for the people who compete."
