FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 introduce the Aramco Pole Position Award

The FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships have introduced the Aramco Pole Position Award, with the new trophy becoming the first award of its kind for F2 and F3 drivers since the inception of both championships.

The Aramco Pole Position Award will be presented on Fridays to the F2 and F3 drivers with the fastest lap time in their qualifying sessions, who will then start from Pole Position on Sunday during the Feature Race.

The first Pole Position Award was presented at Imola in the F2 and F3 Paddock after yesterday’s qualifying sessions for both series.

The F2, F3 statement read: “In addition to leveraging a contemporary design, this award showcases Aramco’s leadership in innovation and technology by utilising materials such as carbon fibre to produce the trophy.”

Commenting on the announcement, Formula 2 and Formula 3 CEO, Bruno Michel, said: “I am very pleased to introduce the Aramco Pole Position Award from this weekend onwards. Thank you to our partner Aramco for this beautiful trophy, which embodies our mutual ambition to achieve innovation and excellence in our sport.

“This award is a great addition to both our championships. F2, F3 and Aramco share the same vision to support the future of lower-carbon fuels and transportation solutions.”
