F1 MATHS: Red Bull beats Ferrari for fastest pit stop at Spa

Despite an up-and-down weekend for Red Bull last time out at the Belgian Grand Prix, the Milton Keynes-based outfit delivered a strong performance in the pit lane, setting the quickest tyre service at Spa-Francorchamps.
After the rain-affected race at Silverstone, the Belgian Grand Prix again put the teams to the test with unpredictable weather conditions. The race started on intermediates, but after just eleven laps, slicks were the faster choice on the drying track at Spa-Francorchamps.
When Lewis Hamilton switched to dry tires on lap 11 and immediately posted fast sector times, a number of the opposition teams reacted promptly, including Red Bull who planned a double stop for Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda.
However, something went wrong with the communication: Tsunoda was called into the pits too late and had to complete another lap on the degrading intermediates.
His tire change therefore did not take place until lap 13. The Red Bull crew then performed precision work and changed Tsunoda’s wheels in just 2.17 seconds – the fastest time of the race, earning them the DHL Fastest Pit Stop.
Ferrari were just 0.04 seconds slower when servicing Hamilton's SF-25. His team-mate Charles Leclerc 's pit stop took a little longer as it was a 2.62-second tyre change, albeit it was still enough for Ferrari to record the 10th quickest tyre service on Sunday.
There was a tight competition behind Ferrari, with Racing Bulls and Mercedes having completed the third-quickest stop (2.28s), followed by Kick Sauber (2.31s) and Aston Martin (2.44s).
The Belgian Grand Prix left Ferrari still on top of the standings in terms of the quickest tyre service of the season (2.0 second).
